Mothers Day! It is fast approaching and I’m a little late to the game. In all honesty, with the combination of Covid, lockdown and home schooling, I forgot. Living the last couple of months in a bubble, no concept of time, it really isn’t surprising that it hasn’t been on my mind or everyone else’s. So on that note, maybe now is the time to quickly pull something out of the bag. Here is my top gift ideas for Mother’s Day that I think any mum would love, all from yup, you guessed it, Amazon but, first of all, some history.

The Origin of Mother’s Day

Once a year, we dedicate a day to mothers all across the world. It is a chance for sons and daughters everywhere to express their appreciation to their mum. A day where you can show your mum how much you love her and say thank you for everything she does; a day to make her feel extra special.

The campaign for Mother’s Day began back in the 1870’s when peace activists, Ann Reeves Jarvis and Julia Ward Howe, put forward the idea of creating a Mother’s Day dedicated to peace.

In 1908, 3 years after the death of her mother, Anna Jarvis took over her mother’s mantle and created the holiday. Unfortunately, the U.S. Congress denied the request. Men! However, due to her efforts, by 1911, most states recognised the holiday. Finally in 1914, Woodrow Wilson made it official, signing a proclamation to make the 2nd Sunday in May a national holiday.

Gradually, other countries followed suit, all choosing their own preferred dates, some thought to be linked to religion. In the U.K. Mother’s Day is held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, 3 weeks before Easter, usually mid March or early April.

It’s a Mum’s Life

In all honesty, it’s not something I usually think about. I mean, birthday’s yes but, Mother’s Day, not so much. We always look to spoil my own mum and mother in law but, I think I am so accepting of my own life that I don’t expect my boys to shower me with affection. I tend to forget. That’s all it is. Maybe part of me doesn’t see myself in the same league as my own mum. Both my husband and I have incredible mums. They are super heroes, having dealt with so much in their lives and always come out fighting.

It’s funny that. Being a mum is my life. For now it’s almost like a career. It’s a 24 hour job but without the benefits. By that I mean, you don’t earn a wage and you never, EVER get a day off, even on Mother’s Day. I’m not even sure if my husband will be here this year. I don’t think he was last year either. That’s just the way it is, parent here, parent there. It’s a mum’s life! I’m not complaining, just stating the facts. I love my life and I love my boys. For now, that’s enough.

Don’t tell the Hubby though! Being a typical girl I would never say no to presents so, let’s get into the nitty gritty…

Here are my top gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

Please note: I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.*

1. Joma Jewellery: A Little Marvellous Mum Bracelet

First on my list of top gift ideas for Mother’s Day has to be Joma Jewellery. These wee bracelets are stunning and perfect as gifts for mums, daughters, grans, teachers and friends alike. They are affordable and extremely pretty, what more could a mum want? This is top of the list because well, just because. It’s shiny! What more can I say? I like shiny things, even more so if it sparkles too. In a past life I must have been a magpie.

2. Bottega Rose Sparkling Wine or Bottega Gold Non Vintage Prosecco

Speaking of shiny things, I luuurrrrrvvvveee a fancy bottle of fizz. The hubby bought me a bottle of the Bottega Gold Prosecco a couple of years ago and it was absolutely delicious. Maybe it was the fancy bottle speaking but it make me feel like I was drinking pure luxury. Hey! I please easily. Now, I know you can buy a standard bottle of Prosecco in the supermarkets for about £6, cheaper if you hit Lidl or Aldi but, as a special gift for a special occasion, do you really want to go and get a Morrison’s own?

I’m certainly not posh when it comes to wine. I pretty much drink anything pink or fizzy but, I really felt so special when I received this as a gift. It was the perfect surprise so why not treat someone special? We all need a little bit of luxury in order to cope with our current Covid circumstances.

3. THE COMFY Original | Oversized Microfiber & Sherpa Wearable Blanket, Seen On Shark Tank One Size Fits All

Now, this item. Oh My God!!!! Whoever invented this is a bloody genius. My hubby bought this for me as a Valentine’s gift. Sexy, I know right! 😂

It is on the slightly higher end of my price scale but it is the perfect present, especially for anyone who is as blue blooded as me. I’m cold 24/7 and this is so snuggly and warm, you have to buy it to try it. I am in love with mine! For this reason, and this reason alone, it has made my top gift ideas for Mother’s Day.

Honestly! Buy it! Try it! Love it! You will not regret it.

4. The Marvellous Mixed Chocolate Bouquet

No list of gift ideas for Mother’s Day is complete without a little chocolate selection, especially for the chocolate lovers out there. I should know. Hello, my name is Lynne and I’m a chocoholic. My hubby should really refrain from buying me more as I really need to shift the Christmas weight but, well, if he didn’t buy it I’d probably buy it myself. Ok, I do buy it myself. Give me a couple glasses of wine and I tend to go a bit happy on Amazon. Recent drunken purchases would include 100 sherbet straws, surprisingly not chocolate but it was cheaper than the massive box of Thornton’s Continental. I know, I hang my head in shame. You’d think I would have learnt my lesson after the first time I did that.

Back on topic though, this really is a stunning gift and kills two birds with one stone; flowers and chocolate. What’s not to love?

5. Mother’s Day Wooden Card

Other than the likes of Moonpig and Funky Pigeon, my family have had to rely on some unconventional methods for cards of late. Mostly we have made them but, my hubby bought me the above little wooden one for Valentine’s Day, from the boys. It is very unique and different, not like what I would normally buy or receive and, it still has pride of place on my window sill, 2 weeks later.

6. Beauty & the Beast Rose

Ok, so I just had to include this because it showcases in the photo above. As you can see this LED rose is absolutely stunning. Again this was a gift from my boys. The lights are quite bright, though the photo doesn’t do it justice. It is such a pretty little trinket of exceptional quality and would make any mum happy. Well it made me happy but we have already established that I am easily pleased.

7. Lavender Scented Products

Lately, with everything happening in the world, sleep eludes me. The solution? I bought a lavender pillow spray and I swear it really works. Lavender helps to relax and soothe your mind, body and soul or, at least that’s what they tell me. I wouldn’t say I’ve found inner peace but I am sleeping better. With Mother’s Day approaching, any mum would benefit from something lavender scented. Yankee Candle is always a trusted go to brand, if not a bit pricey. This just makes it worthy as a gift though. If you don’t fancy forking out for the big one, they do a lot of little candles too. Why not mix and match? Alternatively, do what I did and buy the pillow spray.

8. Me To You Tatty Teddy

Of course we now have the obligatory soft toy and nothing is better than a little Tatty Teddy. I could not count the number of these I have received over the years. It seems to be the go to bear for special occasions. That, or a Charlie Bear. My sister brought those to my attention and I instantly fell in love. They haven’t made this post because they are a bit on the expensive side but, I figured they deserved a wee mention. My aim is that this list of gift ideas for Mother’s Day is of more affordable items.

9. Personalised Canvas

You can’t go wrong with a personalised canvas and this one has some really good reviews. The hubby is always buying prints, canvases and frames from Amazon. It is a good place to get an all in one at an affordable price. At Christmas, 2 years ago, he had a canvas made of one of the boys school photos. It was such a lovely thing to do and I really appreciated it. Any mum would love something like this.

10. Give Me Cosmetics – For Her Gift Set

Ok, so this last one isn’t from Amazon but, if you want to spoil someone in your life then this gift set is perfect. It contains a Chill Out Face Mask, Gel Eye Patches, Mango Lip Scrub, an Eco Pad and most important of all, the Give Me Coconut & Argan Oil Hair Mask. This hair mask is a work of art. It smells incredible and, with hair dressers few and far between just now, it is a God send for dry, damaged, tired locks. I had to include it in this post because I honestly could not be without it. You can buy it on it’s own but, if buying as a gift then a little pamper pack like this will be very much appreciated and well received.

I highly recommend this product. Please note, this is not an affiliate link.

For Her – Give Me Cosmetics

Let’s Sum it Up

Well, that’s it! This has been my list of top 10 gift ideas for Mother’s Day. I hope it has given you some inspiration. Most of these are good gifts for any occasion but, when you want to spoil your mum, these are perfect. I now need to go and decide what I am buying this year.

As Tink would say, “This post is Legit! Peace Out Man!” 😂🙄
