As a mum to 2 bumbling, boisterous little boys, I thought it might be a good idea to list some of the best products I’ve bought over the years to help us in our task of raising boys. Thankfully, most of these apply to little girls too. These are all tried, tested and deemed worthy by Tink and the Pup, best of all, you can find them all on Amazon.

Amazon Fans

We are massive Amazon fans in this house. This is part of the reason I became an Amazon Affiliate, well besides the need to try making a little money. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for supporting the high street stores. I love nothing more than a wee jaunt round the shops. However, since having kids, there are times that you just CANNOT make it to the shops. There are times when, heck, we’ve not even showered. Amazon don’t mind if you’re a little bit whiffy. You can pretty much get anything and everything you need online.

This has become even more relevant since the Covocalypse hit. Since we have hardly been allowed outside our front doors, where else can we get the things we need. The only solution is to go via online stores like Amazon.

There are occasions where we may be struggling with something. We think, “there has to be something out there that can help us”. The first thing I do is go straight to google for research. Once I have the answer it’s straight over to Amazon to see if they have the item I’m looking for. The first product I am going to recommend was one such item.

1. Clippasafe Shampoo Shield

Bought in April last year, right in the height of Lockdown, the clippasafe shampoo shield was one of the best products I have ever come across. Honestly, this was a life saver for us. Every shower time would turn into a scream fest. Pup has an aversion to water anywhere on his head, although for some reason loves the swimming pool. Who knows! 🤷‍♀️ With DIY Daddy working away it was down to me to try and find a solution to the problem. When I came across this wee guy I wasn’t sure at first but, after reading the reviews, decided to give it a go.

It works just like a little cap; slide it over the head and it protects the face and eyes. All of a sudden, shower time was no longer like a scene from the Poseidon Adventure. The one thing I will say is make sure you dry it after each use as it can develop water spots if left to air dry. Other than that though it is a fantastic little tool that took the agro out of shower time and, just had to be number 1 on my best products list.

2. LittleLife Animal Toddler Daysack

This little gem is a must have for any mum. The daysack is perfect for little hands and features chest straps for added security. One of the most important aspects of this product is that it comes with a safety rein, a must have if you have kids like mine. The boys are prone to run and my sweaty mess chasing after is not a pretty sight. The item shown above is the Giraffe version, which doesn’t currently seem to be available, but there is a wide range to choose from.

I used this with both boys or, some form of it. The safety rein allows you to still give them a little freedom to walk without holding their hands. We used the little back pack to hold snacks, suntan lotion and a spare summer hat. It is a fantastic item to have when out and about and is one of the best products I’ve owned. The quality is exceptional and extremely durable.

3. Clippasafe Walking Harness

Clippasafe Walking Harness

I would truly recommend Clippasafe as a brand having used a few of their products. Number 3 on my list of best products is another of theirs and follows on directly from the LittleLife Daysack as they have a similar purpose. Sometimes you don’t need a bag. Reins are enough. Sometimes toddlers are temperamental and don’t want to carry the bag. This is where the Clippasafe Walking Harness came in extra handy.

We used these shortly after Pup started walking. They were very useful when out and about, when you knew you had to do a little bit of walking and needed that extra bit of security. The strap on these was slightly longer than the LittleLife Daysack, giving them that extra bit of freedom too.

4. Educational Foam Blocks

Without a doubt, the best product we have ever bought for the boys are these foam building blocks. We got these for Tink’s 1st birthday and they have been played with ever since. The play value in them is phenomenal. I cannot recommend these highly enough.

All 3 boys have made use out of these since we store them at my mum’s house. They are still the go-to toy whenever we are there. They stimulate their imagination and creativity. Being suitable for both boys and girls I don’t doubt for a second that Little Bug will play with them too. I can just imagine building fairy castles and Barbie dream houses in the years to come. Another useful side effect of these is that they play with them for HOURS, giving me the much needed space to have a cuppa or a wee vino in peace.

5. Indoor/Outdoor Foam Mats

Whoever came up with the concept of these is a genius. Best Product Ever! A lot of people nowadays have decking out back. This isn’t comfortable for little knees and, in some cases, can cause skelfs. We got these to protect the boys when playing outside but they are suitable for indoor use too.

The boys grew up on these, first crawling and exploring their surroundings as babies and, later creating awesome dens and hidey holes. It turns out, not only are they practical but, they have extensive play value too. Bonus! I highly recommend these for any parents who want to let their little ones play outside safely.

One Mum’s Thoughts

To conclude, I hope that this article has given you some food for thought, if not just been an enjoyable read. To all parents out there, new and old, I aim to recommend products I have used myself, are value for money and are definitely worthwhile. I really do love each and every one of them and I hope that you do to, if you choose to buy. 😀
